کوبرا کے پھن پھیلانے کا راز کھل گیا
سائنسدانوں کا کہنا ہے کہ انہوں نے کنگ کوبرا سانپ کے پھن پھیلانے کے عمل کے پیچھے کارفرما نظام کا پتہ چلا لیا ہے۔
سائنسدانوں کے مطابق جب انہوں نے کوبرا کے پٹھوں میں ہونے والی برقی حرکات کا ناپا تو انہیں پتہ چلا کہ کوبرا اپنا پھن پھیلانے کے لیے مخصوص پٹھے استعمال کرتا ہے۔
محققین کا کہنا ہے کہ جب بھی کوبرا اپنا پھن پھیلاتا ہے اس کی پسلیاں بھی آپس میں مل کر اس کی مدد کرتی ہیں۔
اس تحقیق کو تجرباتی حیاتیات کے جریدے میں شائع کیا گیا ہے۔
امریکہ کی واشنگٹن سٹیٹ یونیورسٹی کے پروفیسر کینتھ کارڈونگ نے بی بی سی نیوز سے بات کرتے ہوئے کہا ہے کہ 'کوبرا کی پسلیاں اور اس کے پٹھے اسے یہ شکل اپنانے میں مدد دیتے ہیں'۔

A Chinese hospital has released x-ray images of a six-year-old boy who was born with 14 fingers and 16 toes. The boy was scheduled for surgery at a hospital in Shenyang, Liaoning province, to removed the extra fingers and toes, local media reported. Experts said a gene mutation contributed to the growth of the extra fingers and toes, according to reports. More images after the break...

Kenny Easterday is a 35-year-old American man born with a rare disease (sacral agenesis) that prevents his spine from growing correctly. Doctors amputated his legs when he was a baby to use his shinbone for completing his underdeveloped spine.Kenny never liked wheelchairs and refused to wear prosthetic legs, so he learned with his dad to walk on his hands and to move with a skateboard.As many other men, he enjoys sports (especially bowling and pool), has a job and has found his sweetheart, Nicky, with whom he raises her two kids.Nicky got pregnant when she started to date Kenny 7 years ago, so they made a test to know for sure if he’s the real father. A Half Ton man has died
A half-ton man has died of heart failure despite a rescue attempt that saw his bedroom wall demolished so he could be taken to hospital on the back of a lorry. The 47-year-old from Juarez, northern Mexico, was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital. An enormous coffin had to be constructed and José Luis Garza's burial was delayed as cemetery workers enlarged the grave.

Mr Garza, who weighed 70stone 10lb, had appealed on television for help tackling his weight problem - following the example of the world's fattest man, fellow Mexican Manuel Uribe of nearby Monterrey. Mr Garza said he had always struggled with his weight but fell into a cycle of depression and overeating nine months ago after his parents died within two weeks of each other. He had been bedridden for four months.
Terminally obese Garza had appealed for help on TV
Mr Garza's condition deteriorated over the weekend as he struggled to breathe and eat. Relatives criticised officials for failing to move him to a hospital before he became critically ill. 'If he had received support at the time he asked for it, he would still be with us,' said his brother Pedro. State officials argued there was little they could do.
Mr Garza's gigantic coffin is lowered into his grave
'The attention he would have received at a hospital would have been the same he received at home,' said a spokesman for the state health department. 'Moving a patient of that magnitude is very difficult.' About 150 friends and family waited for more than four hours at a cemetery while carpenters built a special coffin for Mr Garza's burial. 'The family wanted to cremate him but there wasn't an adequate oven for someone his size,' funeral home worker Maribel Cantu said. 'He is the biggest man we have buried.' Mr Garza's coffin arrived at the cemetery in a white van and 20 relatives and workers lowered it to the ground. Mr Uribe, whose record weight of 87stone 12lb earned him a place in the 2008 Guinness Book of Records, had tried to help Garza by sending him kiwis, grapefruit, pears and a protein supplement. Mr Uribe's fiancée, Claudia Solis, delivered the food on Friday evening.

A close relative of the Mirzas described the ceremony, which lasted for ten minutes as a very simple affair. Family members of Sania mirza and close relatives of shoaib Malik, including his sisters and brothers-in-law attended the wedding function.
Families settled to go ahead with the nikah ahead of the earlier declared wedding date of April 15. Sources said the families steered clear of all possible legal hurdles before going ahead with the ceremony by seeking necessary counsel.
